He had been one of the team’s key players in their Ranji Trophy triumph in 1987-88, with over 500 runs in the season. One of the highlights of his career came the following season in the Irani Trophy, when he scored a 100 off 56 balls, then the fastest hundred in first-class cricket by an Indian. He captained Tamil Nadu for a few years, before joining Goa as a professional.Chandrasekhar has also served on the national and state selection panels.
